The railway at the heart of the Churnet Valley

New work on the old railway is helping to make the valley even better for cyclists.

Being part of the Partnership has helped the volunteers of the North Staffs Railway Company, tackle some big projects.

The volunteers have restored the old signal box at Leekbrook and will open it to visitors to show how it worked. Down the line at Cheddleton they are repairing an old water column and installing it on one of the platforms.

All the stations are being equipped with cycle racks and repair stations to support visitors with bikes. Cyclists will be able to cycle the towpath and return by train or link with the new Pedals in the Peaks routes.

We have 750 members, and of those 100 or so are active volunteers
