Event date:
Thursday, 12 June, 2014 - 19:00 to Friday, 13 June, 2014 - 18:45
Venue:
Starting from the car park opposite the Black Lion Pub, Consall at 7.00pm
Event organiser:
Nicki Dyas
Event Description:

A short guided walk of just over a mile with local naturalist, historian and author Byron Machin, exploring the deep wooded heart of the Churnet Valley. We will visit the Devil's Steps, Price's Cave and explore the long forgotten mining heritage of the valley. We will also have opportunity to study the valley's fascinating moth populations.

At the start of the walk everyone has a chance to choose their own spot to lay a secret mixture of sugar and ale designed to attract a variety of beautiful and rare moths. Byron will also be bringing and setting up his own moth trap - just in case the elixir is not enough! The guided walk will last roughly an hour and will be followed by a drink and chat in the Black Lion pub. Then when the dusk sets in we will head back out to see what beauties we have caught. Don't forget to bring a torch!

ThereĀ  is no charge for the walk but donations will be gratefully received towards event costs and the CVLLP.
