It is people who make the Churnet Valley what it is today. Happily, many local residents are keen to put time and energy into improving the area.
The Community Grant Scheme 2012 -16 supported communities in the Churnet Valley who wanted to improve their local environment. These small grants supported a wide range of initiatives from local festivals to repairing local heritage features.
Several of the projects have involved restoring buildings, including: making a chimney safe at Cheddleton flint mill, mending the clock at Ledridge Church and lots of dry stone walling.
