A taste of the Churnet Valley

One of the great benefits of a healthy landscape is good local food.

Encouraging and supporting local food producers is an important long-term project.

Although this is a fertile area there are few food businesses. Some small local farms produce high quality lamb and pork and there is potential for honey production, cheese-making, brewing and chocolate making.

We ran courses for existing businesses to grow and to market their products better and encourage new business start-ups. We are also worked with local shops, pubs and restaurants that could sell local produce.

Please visit our list of local food and drink businesses.

It’s about the local produce, how they rear the animals and how the land is managed
